Heh! I bought the yarn intentionally for the color because of my upcoming book. ;p

Halfway done with the capelet knitted of ground pork-colored yarn. I'm not sure I've got enough yarn to finish, but hope springs eternal. Since the start of Trump's tariffs & his ending of the de minimis exemption for mail, I have zero option to buy another skein in this color. :( #knittingsky

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

Weeee! At the very last election training of my term as Judge of Elections. Just had a nice chat with the head of elections who is reading A Misfortune of Lake Monsters at the moment. It's so odd (and fun) when my worlds collide!

It was amazing, Shveta. The Ritz stopped this years and years ago, and it never made sense to me--the lobby was always packed for the sommelier.

Yesterday they were shooting priests in the head with rubber bullets. Today they're arresting journalists. If you have anyone in your life who doesn't regularly follow the news and doesn't understand how bad things are and how bad they're about to get, you need to tell them right now. Time is short.

Delightful news for a Friday!
MIT Rejects the Compact!
I am so proud.
"The document also includes principles with which we disagree, including those that would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution. And fundamentally, the premise of the document is inconsistent with our core belief ...

replayed for me. While yes, it had a lot to do with how much Danger Yam is destroying the US, but McGregor's run for Irish president came up in relation--and how the Irish are much more sensible than Americans because they would never elect a rapist. It made the whole film far more gross. 2/2

I recently watched the 2024 Road House remake. Look, the original isn't a great film, but at least it's got Sam Elliott in it. The remake is so terribly awful--and it's got the double whammy of Conor McGregor's presence. Every moment he was on screen, the convo I had with my cab driver in Dublin 1/

I'm calling it now: the same folks who complain about finishing fifth instead of fourth over a trans woman athlete will start suing over have to race against ovulating cis women athletes because of hormonal advantages, etc.

I'm cackling as I read this article. I have carved exactly ONE pumpkin since Craig & I were married 25 years ago. Why? Because we carved about 30 pumpkins into jack o'lanterns in the day or 2 before our wedding--we used them as centerpieces. My fingers ache when I even so much as look at a pumpkin.
‘I carved until my fingers bled’: inside the baffling world of pumpkin obsessives

In addition to putting officers more at risk, sending ICE and/or the national guard into cities sends the message that local police are idiots who can't or won't effectively do their jobs. It makes little sense to me why local police would be excited about that.

a] I've met lots of great people that I now I consider friends.

b] The opportunity to serve as Editor/curator of the BODIES FULL OF BURNING anthology (the only anthology that we know of that looks at horror through the lens of menopause) came my way.
