Gee, Universal Basic Income recoups more than it costs AND the recipients are happier and healthier.

Hmmm. Where have I seen those results before? Oh yes, in every other goddam pilot study of UBI for more than a decade. Ireland joins Finland in at least making a start.
Ireland’s basic income for the arts scheme becomes permanent
When piloted, initiative that provided €325 a week to eligible artists recouped more than its net cost, study shows

Nebula and Hugo noms are open. Imagine I published something in 2025, then imagine you nominated it. OMG imagine it won! OK, we're done, that was just practice for next year. Now go and nominate your favourite books!

God’s Junk Drawer, Peter Clines (Blackstone 979-8874830878, hardcover, 560pp, $16.99) November 2025. How can a writer compose a traditional yet contemporary “lost world” adventure these days …

Re: Bookshop org's new partnerships. I knew Spotify was on the shit list, but I didn't know all of this re: Draft2Digital.
A'ight kids, it's time for a thread giving you the lowdown on Draft2Digital.

1: They were founded by right-wing Xtians.

2: They donate masses of cash to their church and missions.

3: They view ROMANCE and EROTICA as the same thing, *and* as "dangerous".

⬇️
Unfortunately they are blocking all erotica from distribution. Very sad to see a champion for indie bookstores take such a restrictive stance on fiction.

Folks outside SF/F don't know that Asimov was a sexual harasser because while he was alive fandom thought it was cute (up to and including Asimov being invited to give a lecture on "The Power of Positive Posterior Pinching" at Worldcon, which he, wisely, declined).

Check out The Thirteenth God from @djangowexler.bsky.social He's let me read a little ahead of the chapter releases and it's a gloriously fun story about a low level con artist who finds himself tangled up in a plot to kill god. Sort of Pirates of the Caribbean meets Warhammer 40K.
