The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

As a gay man who grew up in the midwest, it's disturbing how succinctly the developmental trauma that haunts me to this day can be summed up.

The training/socialization of men starts instantly and goes hard. Everything you might like is too gay, too feminine. You are required to hate yourself for being insufficiently masculine, to blame others for that feeling, and to hate everyone who doesn't "respect" your manliness.

an early warning sign of trump dying or has just died is of the autopen starts running 24/7, especially with pardons. because of his dementia he's already not funny running the finer details
The autopen thing is bigtime comfort territory for Trump, but this is crazy for a number of reasons — one of those being that he’s super old, another being that he’s letting Stephen Miller run vast swaths of the federal govt
