i can be malnourished and delirious and sleep deprived but get me on a call with a nerd who's put years of work into an extremely extensive but niche gamedev tool and i will light up like a light bulb and lock the fuck in. nothing gives me more sheer joy than talking to devs about their tools

With Windows 10 now out of service today, a quick reminder:

If you need Windows but don't want to update, you can switch to Windows LTSC. It's an official, stripped down Win 10/11 without forced ai, apps, or bloatware, and will continue to be updated.

LTSC is windows 10 naked edition. Is has no apps, no store, no game bar or Xbox, not even OneDrive. ALL of that can be installed *if you want*. It's for businesses, but you can go set up until something like 2028 through massgrave.dev/windows_ltsc...

I'm still tinkering with it myself.

if you knew the order of world generation and initialization, you could run through all possible rolls you'd want to hit and then work backwards to find which seeds can make that happen

my usual method is to generate a single run RNG object seeded with the current millisecond of the day and them use that RNG object to seed all my other RNGs, but maybe that first should be the number of frames it takes for you to create a new save game file to make it fixable
