If Labour wants to get all patriotic, don't piss around with migrants.

Introduce a patriot bill, where it requires all utility, transport and media owners to be based (and pay tax) in the UK.

Make the patriotic case that this country should control its own future and own its own free press.

Jonathan Freedland finally says it:
Britain is drowning bc there’s a Brexit-shaped hole in the roof and Labour refuses to fix it.

Reeves can juggle taxes but nothing improves until we face the truth.

We’re poorer bc of Brexit. We stay poor if Labour protects it.

Rachel Reeves is studiously ignoring the cause of Britain’s woes: the Brexit-shaped hole in its roof | Jonathan Freedland
The autumn budget will mop up some damage, but the true source of the economic crisis is clear. The government should now fix it – tragically, it won’t, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

Why do COPs fail? Well, one of the most important, COP 15, at Copenhagen in 2009, where the trajectory of the IPCC process was to be set for decades, was undermined by the USA spying on delegates.

And that was under the most law abiding president in the last 25 years.

It's a surrender demand. Turncoat Trump has put America firmly on the side of Putin's Russia, his eyes fixed firmly on stealing vast amounts of Ukraine's mineral resources. A monumental betrayal of Western democratic values.
🚨🚨This is no "peace" plan, it is a recipe for further suffering and #Russian imperialist expansion in the #west. It is difficult to appreciate just how much damage the #trump administration has done to #Ukraine and its war efforts. It is disgusting beyond words. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/world/2025/n...

Yes. That's the plan. Weakening public services allows an easier path to their privatization.
While I don't trust surveys as a reliable guide to what will actually happen, it is remarkable how much UK immigration policy is now conducted without regard to the impact on the economy and public services. If public services suffer from a lack of staff, the populists will blame ... immigration
