People could just make whatever fucking movie they wanted in the late '60s through early '70s, couldn't they.

(This movie was distributed by 20th Century Fox, meaning it's now part of the Disney library.)

Mediocre night, sleep loose, don't let the bed bugs bite you more than a maximum of two or three times.

Cool, Criterion's featuring a movie with my name in the credits! Try to guess which one. (Hint: It's not 'The Shining')

Watching 'I, Robot' for the first time since '04 and I can't stress enough how awkward it is. Yes it's dated now but a lot of it was really awkward back then too. Don't trust anyone who says it was ahead of its time. The midcentury Asimov stories that inspired it were brilliant but of their time too

A surprisingly melancholy movie. Pretty somber through its whole runtime. The poster says not to tell why his hair turned green, so I won't do it myself. But I will post the scene that explains it. (Spoilers, of course.)

About to watch 'The Boy with Green Hair' (1948). Known for introducing the song "Nature Boy", and for actually doing pretty well with critics. Really shows that you can make a story with a fantasy conceit by doing pretty much anything. "What if a boy's hair suddenly turned green."

I've never seen any of Tom Stoppard's plays performed, but I've read most of them, and I find them enormously inspiring.

But he vocally supported JK Rowling, so I didn't feel comfortable supporting him. Now he's dead, I don't have to worry about getting all his plays I read secondhand, I guess.

Any good RECENT sci-fi anthology TV shows? I've seen some bad ones, like Twilight Zone 2019. Black Mirror has some good but more misses and there's a lot about it that is old-hat to anyone who's dug much into classic sci-fi...

(I'm a Dickhead but still haven't watched that Electric Dreams series.)

What are everyone's thoughts on the look of early "digital backlot" movies like 'Casshern' or 'Immortel: Ad Vitam'? I think they can be quite pretty and fun to look at even though they're far from convincing. The effect can be kind of like if 'Saul of the Mole Men' had more interesting color grading
