I guess I reflexively resist engaging with art when the creators call it "content" the same way I wouldn't order a dish that a restaurant lists only as "stuff."

i just realized that my cat's habit of scratching exactly twice on her scratch pad, then looking up at me, and then crying to request a treat is exactly the same thing as kids trick or treating and I'm here for it.

my cat Commodore Welcome started purring REALLY loudly when @themountaingoats.bsky.social came on and just sat in front of the speakers and listened for the whole song. I always knew she had impeccable taste.

i know those metrics don't really matter. noone cares how many brushstrokes go into a painting. but this shit is really hard and thankless and traditional arts folks are weirdly dismissive about it, so metrics of how much went into a thing are way of saying "here's how much of me went into the art."

today's labRats will have the largest number of updates between shows we've ever attempted. 45 new visual assets, 3000 new lines of code, 2 new puzzles, 1 new area, a ton of bug fixes and inconsistencies ironed out. sooooo hopefully it all works!

the code for labRats is finally stable enough to start adding some of the planned new areas to it! the first new mini-game is a fun little robot fighting game that may be very tricky to find. we'll see what happens tomorrow!

There's a social media trend of people attempting to run marathons with zero training and a take that really resonated with me is doing this means that you never really fail. I think the AI people have a similar mentality. They want to be able to say they have done a thing without doing it
there’s this weird idea a lot of people seem to have about how all of us writers and artists must secretly want to use AI and are merely resisting temptation for ethical reasons, and like, no, it’s not hard for me to resist drinking the bowl of Piss With Glass In It actually

Microblogging is terrible. It's all context collapse and unbridled id: notifications as conversation. We need more long-form, considered discussion. The internet needs more nuance and structured thought.
