I say this as a Southern-Midwesterner who is heavily conditioned to these polite niceties and whose grandmother and great grandmother went to finishing school.
And I think generally there is value it defaulting to politeness. But not here.

I really hate that they say "Thank you, Mr. President." It is so obsequious. It is particularly egregious with Trump but I think that the WHPC should just do away with it altogether. They are there to serve the people and should be adversarial most of the the time.
