i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Reminds me of "ghetto" growing up in the 80's and 90's. Proliferated by white people and everyone knew what was being implied, but it was widely acceptable slang and used in spaces that would likely surprise anyone born after say 1998ish.
Normalizing spelling out what people actually mean when they cite DEI rather than letting them hide behind the safe cover of a euphemism that's been sapped of meaning
