I reckon if Ukraine signed a peace deal under US pressure, Russia would still be free of any obligations. Or so it seems from how the purportedly US-beokered peace deals fall apart in ways that favour the aggressor.
Rwanda-backed M23 fighters have entered the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo city of Uvira, with reports of artillery fire in towns and villages, civilian casualties, and other abuses.

These reports underscore the urgent need for civilian protection.

Eight ex-MEPs that we know of so far. Some others merit investigation but why would anyone bother, right?
Three more Farage bloc MEPs alleged to have followed Russian asset’s script. At least eight MEPs elected for Ukip or Brexit party now known to have been focus of efforts by jailed Nathan Gill.

If the EU buys into Russia's pinkie promise not to attack further after they are given everything they want, this will be suicidal.
🚨 Explosive report by Bloomberg:

The US has lobbied “several” EU countries to derail the reparations loan for Ukraine, arguing the Russian assets are needed to achieve a peace deal and shouldn’t be used to “prolong the war”.
US Urged Europeans to Oppose EU Plan for Loan to Support Ukraine

Germany has had decades of supposedly democracy through trade with Russia, arguing that Russia will be more democratic when it gets richer. It ended in tears for Ukraine, Georgia, and yet might end in tears for Baltics next if the EU follows a US-RU reset.
The headline, the main takeaway from a European viewpoint is this:

The transatlantic relationship as we know it is over. Yes, we kinda knew this. But this is now official US White House policy. Not a sppech, not a statement. The West as it used to be no longer exists.

Quite breathtaking story - military grade drones at Dublin airport which flew on the path Zelensky's plane took. The drones reached the flight path of his plane exactly the time it should have been there, but just missed it because Zelensky arrived ahead of schedule:
Four unidentified military-style drones breached no-fly zone to target Zelenskyy's arrival in Dublin
Gardaí are investigating whether the drones took off from land in Dublin or from an undetected ship.

False peace efforts by Trump and Putin are weakening the support from less willing allies of Ukraine. The idea that less military support is needed right now is shameless pandering to Russia. If a ceasefire were to miracuously happen, Ukraine would need to be armed to teeth to deter Russia.
How dumb can one be?

Worth noting that Katehon is part of the media empire of one of the richest Russian anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ+ funders/oligarchs.

But tell me again how these people are progressive!

Even putting destalinisation and decolonisation in one sentence will cause rage in some corners of decolonial academia. Godspeed and fair play to the organisers 🚀

Did you advise him on the reset policy and declaring there was "no military solution" in 2014?
When I worked for Obama, I advised him on how to talk to Russian leaders. I never gave the Kremlin advice on how to talk to Obama (and I talked to Ushakov many times!).

Insane betrayal
The alleged European counterproposal says the Ukrainian army will be “capped at 800,000 in peacetime.”

If true, it’s an astonishing reversal from yesterday’s statement signed by leaders at the G20 that warned limitations “would leave Ukraine vulnerable to a future attack.”

The US is stabbing Ukraine in the back right when even sceptical news sources such as Militarnyi report that Ru military budget is in terrible form. I'm not one for daily cheery reports that Russia collapses tomorrow, but it's clear that Trump is rescuing Russia from the unfolding economic disaster.
‼️ In Yakutia (Russia), payments to the military have been suspended due to a budget deficit and the “impossibility of predicting” how much money needs to be allocated for these payments, - Militarnyi

Meanwhile, Russia seems to successfully decouple the US from Europe. Who out-Raegans whom in this race is the question. (Only half-joking)
There are reports and suggestions the US is desperate to stop Russia becoming a Chinese satellite and they are happy to throw Ukraine under the bus to do it

Ugh, for all Lambert's pro-Russian sympathies, he doesn't have Kneecap flying Russian flags at the gigs to shtick it up to the Brits. Even if the only reason to hold back were a thought that it would be bad for business. It could have been worse!
