I don't understand how you can do a Gordon Lightfoot tribute album without Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but also I can fully understand why you would want to avoid ever being expected to play it live

This isn’t the most inspiring story, but I grew up in the middle of nowhere with very little to do, no access to other people my age, and long periods of time when I just had to be quiet and entertain myself with nothing but the inside of my own head.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

If I had a money to burn and the ability to hire someone with a gift for fundraising, I think I'd start a free queer book of the month club

A friend turned me onto the queer liberation library, if you like to read ebooks and are finding your public library is cutting out queer books. You just need to live in the US right now. It's fairly new, so hopefully they'll branch out eventually.

Aldo, I've been thinking about my new year's resolutions and I think I'm going to pick like 10 genres of books and read one from each. I get stuck in horror and dad books and need to branch out.

When I inevitably whine about not remembering what I wanted to watch on Netflix while I'm petsitting this week, someone remind me it's Wake Up Dead Man and the Diddy documentary

My local arthouse theater was this crumbling old historic venue. They did $2 matinees, so I watched a lot of weird things by myself, and it was always a good time. Also, Blair Witch scared my bestie and me so much that we had to sit in a Friendly's until they closed instead of going home.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Listening to my (mostly) queer indie playlist for the first time in ages and it is so good. I'm just lying here under the twinkly lights, vibing

The thing about the Riddick movies is that I do very much enjoy Chronicles of Riddick, but hate it as a sequel to Pitch Black. They're completely different animals that live in separate barns in my head.

I have absolutely sucked out at movie autumn. Gotta try to remember to see either Hamnet or Predator Badlands this week.

Also the new Retail Drugs album is good, if you like slightly strange, experimental music. He didn't use tape recording for this one, so it has a very different sound.

ANYWAY that was not what I came here to say. I listened to Rasputina's Oh Perilous World today for the first time in ages and it still feels tragically relevant.

It's interesting that Spotify doesn't track individual classical tracks, but does track composers and albums. I had Purcell and the Haïm Dido and Aeneas in my top 5 this year, but not any of the tracks. It never showed up in my on repeat, even though I listened to it obsessively for several months.

This looks so fun, but I also kind of don't want to see Grace go through it again. Let her rest! She already had to kill a whole house full of rich assholes.

The decaf version are disappointing. Not terrible and I'll drink it, but it doesn't have the robust cinnamony thickness that the OG has. Helps some if you steep it for a while...idk more than 5m, less than 10?
Continuing the saga, this tea is not sweetened. There's no sugar in it. It just tastes like that. So, I guess if you can't have added sugar, but would like a tea that still tastes weirdly sweet, and you enjoy a hard punch of cinnamon and orange peel, this is the tea for you. It's growing on me a lot
Still weird that the sachets are sweetened, but also convenient, I guess? The downside is that it's sweeter on its own than I typically take my tea, so probs not an everyday bev. It'll be nice to occasionally enjoy the taste of cinnamon candy without the mouth irritation from it.

Idk if light therapy does anything, but I do enjoy having a routine where I sit in front of a bright light and read for 30m once or twice a day.

It's stunning that we live in a timeline where 911 Nashville isn't the worst Ryan Murphy show. However! LeAnn Rimes really sells the shit out of it. It's a very here's your one chance, Fancy performance.
