Merits aside, it is insanely easy to be caught if you do this and the punishment for doing this is much more severe than you’d guess.

I don't disagree, but there are little ways to do it. I'm going to list a couple for anyone looking for ideas.

Bring an extra meal to work once in a while. Label it FREE LUNCH with the date, and leave it in fridge.

Give $5 to the food bank (or extra $5 to your church plate, if you go).

You don't have to reinvent the wheel with this. Big heaps of orgs exist, just web search.

Or call your nearest food bank. Start there. Donate cash - they can do so much more with it as a charity - and ask what other local orgs they work with.

Or check on someone you know.

If you're comfortable, & you have everything you need taken care of with a little extra, you don't have to give to mutual aid, but why wouldn't you? The hoarding mindset is capitalist. You can easily be part of the community that supports real life vulnerable folks. We're all we got. You gon learn.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC
