I am somewhat tired of being told how I should feel about stuff like flags and patriotism and people’s intentions by people who have neither experience of nor imagination about my lived experience.

Whatever the prevailing far-right supremacist political wind in Westminster and the fringes of the country, here in the cities of England we know who we are, there is a physical record of us here for decades, together side-by-side. British. Belonging.

I noticed that earlier. Performative
But on the doorsteps “We’re staunch Tories,” “Maybe Kemi will be better,” “Kemi is better than Starmer.”

I know.
I am an only child married to an (AuDHD) only child. I like being with people up to a point but only up to a point.

In 1972, Idi Amin expelled Uganda’s Asian community in the name of culture.

In 2025, a British MP is using the same language to justify removing lawful residents.

Don’t say it can’t happen here.
"They Will Also Need to Go Home"
A sitting Conservative MP has introduced a bill that would make lawful residents deportable for earning under £38,700 - and Britain’s political class is barely blinking.

There is a sexist element to this, too. Woe betide a woman with ILR gets pregnant and takes maternity leave.

Senior Labour figures have expressed dismay at the Party's "cowardly" and "incompetent" response to Tory shadow minister Katie Lam calling for legal migrants to "go home".

"What’s the point of us saying we’re anti-racist when we fail to call out racism," said one MP.

The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.
Or, possibly, if their contribution is “unwelcome?”
If they had any shame…

“It’s 007…”

From the new Private Eye, out now.
I don’t usually feel the need to be with people. I do stuff in my local community and the charity branch I run if I can, and that seems enough for now.
Truly. Just look at the raindrops on this magical, mathematical work of art, one among many thousands at Sandringham last week.
Just look at these colours!
My in laws were Quakers. It’s what you say about the tenets of the faith not necessarily applying to the people who follow it. I tend to take people as I find them and then, somewhere down the line, get hurt.

Reminding National Trust members not to turn into a pumpkin - please *use your vote* before the end of the month to support genuine candidates and keep the disingenuous ‘Restore’ stooges away from the Trust’s assets. Easiest way is use ‘Quick Vote’ to endorse official NT AGM recommendations.

For the best security, protect your windows with solid shutters rather than Louvre ones.
Nature and its creations are wondrous, though.
I have no faith, never have, so would call myself an atheist, but for me it’s a personal thing. I know that some people derive tremendous comfort and belonging from being part of that sort of community. That just isn’t there for me and, frankly, I do feel its lack from time to time.
It’s a bottomless pit, I fear.

I don't know about you, but I seriously can't take any more of imbeciles, racists and village idiots talking utter bullshit every day and the media reporting it as if they're speaking words of wisdom. The gloryfication of morons that started with Reality TV has to reach its sell-by date sometime!
I mean, that sounds like a coherent plan.
