I'm parked here,
out of work all year.
No hurry now
and sleep badly.
But I'm self-employed.
My new job's

This is disgusting and depressingly stupid in about 30 different ways. It’s also plain weird and badly thought through - not that logic is any kind of factor. How can this possibly be enforced?

A reminder of where the money's going and why we're doing all this in the FAQs for the auction. Sudan is undergoing the biggest humanitarian crisis since records began, with over 12 million people displaced. Auction £ going to the Sudanese-run emergency response rooms eyesonsudan.net/auction

Debt. By David Graeber. This was v cheap (secondhand shop) and I was curious about it already, but it was the cover design that made me pick up this book and then buy it. Obviously the very best/wittiest solution to presenting the idea in an elegant and instantly accessible way.

Thirty years ago today, the scientist Clair Patterson passed away. He campaigned tirelessly and effectively to remove lead from gasoline, paint, pipes, and food cans. The drop in violent crime that correlates with this change? Massive.
Science hero.

A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

Heart Lamp by Banu Mushtag. I bought this book because I like the cover, and I don’t care who knows it.

It’s a great collection of stories too so all’s well that ends well. Of course I buy books by their covers. That’s what cover are for. I find it very hard to buy a book if I dislike the cover.
