When Trump steals the 2026 midterms, Justin Webb will hail it as a great victory and a vindication of MAGA policy. There will be little or no mention of gerrymandering or the gutting of the Voting Rights Act.
People with Xmas trees up already. When next year? Before Bonfire night? The Summer Solstice?

Again, this is the cognitive test that Donald Trump thinks was very hard.

Gone by the midterms.
Trump: "Under Boot Edge Edge - another grossly incompetent. Get on his bicycle, ride to work. What they do is they take the fiber optics & they take fiber, try to hook it into copper. And fiber and copper don't mix. You can't do it...you saw that by the helicopter crash. You saw that into the plane"

Go on then tell me again how taking money off women who you've convinced can increase the size of their breasts by the power of thought is feminism, actually.

The Gibb machine in overdrive mode.
Watched BBC 6 o clock news. Just a completely unserious broadcast. Chris Mason, acting like a children's entertainer, giving a prolonged impenetrable editorial. Not a whiff of informative content about the Budget or what it means for the country. Just playschool blah blah bollocks.

It’s way past time that Starmer went in ‘studs up’ on the BBC.

If I were Rachel Reeves I would simply ask Laura K and Nick Robinson why they were repeating right wing talking points found on X as a basis for their questions. Stop being defensive.

Does Kemi Badenoch do anything as Leader of the Opposition other than call for resignations?
How about formulating policy, creating a credible team of ministers, looking like a government in waiting?
Too much like hard work when you can be getting angry on TV.

When Rachel Reeves doesn’t resign, Badenoch is going to look even more ludicrous than she does already.

Imagine Campbell reacting to Mason's output today. Blair would want answers from the Beeb. Starmer seems to be like 'oh well'. I actually don't get it.

Choir singing carols. Xmas tree lights on. Jolly cheers.

Jon Craig on Sky: It's huge, more colourful, a better tree than we've seen in recent years. If I were to make a cynical point, I wonder if the PM is thinking whether he'll be switching it on next year.

These people are just exhausting. ~AA

Media speculating whether media will continue to speculate about something that only media is speculating about.

"Rachel Reeves will be hoping the shock resignation from the boss of the economic watchdog tonight will drown out questions about whether she misled the public about its forecasts."

Exactly this. Bias is not the problem in UK political ‘journalism’. The main problem is the sheer laziness of political broadcast ‘journalists’.
All this budget news, claims, counter claims is confusing, but two things of consequence.

1. We're all talking about that, not any financial benefits (or losses) of the budget.

2. Yet more focus on the very weird few weeks and politics of it all. Starting to feel dangerously like a norm.

It’s all about ‘trust’ in our politicians and how journalists, our disinterested tribunes, can undermine it.
It’s an indictment of our media that more time is being spent on whether Reeves lied about the need to raise taxes than on the actual substance of the policies announced on Wednesday.

I've said it before, but there is no way Blair would have put up with the bs we are seeing from the bbc - exemplified by Laura K this morning. He's be going for them big time. *Rightly so*.

What this Reeves lying nonsense very obviously boils down to is immense disappointment on the right that the budget did not tank the markets. They wanted a Truss moment causing huge problems for millions of people but didn’t get one. They are patriots, apparently.
