I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

i say this about once every six months but that final A Tribe Called Quest record is truly extraordinary. could make a legitimate case that it is their best record, which by default makes it one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time

If you would like to see unmarked MPD vehicles parked in bike lanes, you can find them in the S 6th Street bike lane next to the Public Service Building every single day, all day long.
Mpls cop in an unmarked car blocking both the protected bike lane and bus stop at 31st & Franklin.

Legal parking spot was open right around the corner.

Told him to move, but he claimed he was responding to an emergency. Ok, dude.

This is correct. Any candidate cynically “triangulating” on trans kids is a non-starter, and now is the time to say so. There’s still so much time to advance candidates that DON’T suck.
I will never, ever vote for Gavin Newsom. Ever, under any circumstances. I don't care if he becomes the Dem nominee, he's still not getting my vote.
On a recent podcast Gavin Newsom tells Shawn Ryan how the Trans sports issue opened the door for him to change his mind on GAC for Trans Youth.

As someone who adored him since 2004 and voted for him 5 times, I can't wait for him to leave office.

There is no way I will be voting for him a 6th time.

🧵 Much of the analysis of Minneapolis zoning reforms includes info that doesn’t have the added quality of being true. A couple of people wrote about their understanding and assumptions and then it takes on a life of its own and gets cited by others. A thread…

Very little market rate housing construction happens in places where rents are generally not high enough to result in a decent return on your investment given the current cost of development.

Maybe. For me the correct answer is the Ultimate 81s, which were discontinued for some reason. I panic bought 8 pair when I heard the news.

Minneapolis adopted its first zoning code in 1924. This is the story of how it happened. I wanted to post this while it's still 2024.
This🧵 is not short.

City planners, listen up!
This is why I’m from the school of political comms that is set on talking about values, vision, and villains—not policy.

People generally don’t know what policies will actually help them. Build consensus around real outcomes so you can pass policies that will get you there.
Most people don't have well-informed thoughts on most issues. Nor should they. People deserve to grill in peace. They're influenced by the available narratives. If Democrats don't offer a pro-immigrant narrative, the hoi polloi will not create one on their own.

I would have settled for celebrating adoption of Minneapolis 2040 just the first time, but we're on celebration number five, or something? Two more times left - once at the Governor’s desk, and then case dismissal. Feels good! Up early this morning to start work on the next comp plan...

Two Planning internships with the City of Minneapolis are open through April 1st—no joke! One is a field intern focused on zoning inspections, open to all students and recent grads. Other is research-focused and is limited to graduate students or recent grads.
