This is the stupidest and most dangerous administration in history.

Fundamentally, we need to primary a lot of Senate Dems if we want a change. Not just the ones who voted yes, but the ones who wanted it to pass that made Schumer their leader because he'd never pressure them to do anything they felt might be unpopular, regardless of the stakes.

The only solution will be to vigorously primary Democrats who cave or are ok with caving. It's also the most effective way to change the party.
I think Senate folders are significantly underestimating how fucking angry Democratic voters are at them

I'm curious what Democrats are onboard with this and if Schumer was involved and how.
Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It also might not even stop the pain. It won't stop healthcare pain and Republicans want to gut SNAP and more. It just sends a clear message that Republicans can do whatever they want.
This has already killed over 600,000 people, mostly children, from gutting USAID alone.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

As I've worded it before, they're more concerned with appearing serious than being serious.
I’ve said it before but news outlets worry a lot about looking biased and not enough about looking phony.
Why should people trust you if you won’t say what they can see plain as day?

So if Jackson had denied the request, they could have tried other justices until they got the answer they wanted -- which would have been far worse.
in any event, the modern practice for applications to a single justice is to refer them to the entire court for resolution (which we see in most emergency applications), but by *granting* the emergency request Justice Jackson cut off the possibility of the administration simply going to Alito

1. If true, meat prices are higher than they should be so US ranchers should be making more money.
2. If true, Trump is trying to make their struggling worse by lowering prices more. He acts like this will help them.

Trump literally had one major crisis his first term. It was Covid and he completely blew. Over 500,000 Americans needlessly died (many deaths could not be avoided because we didn't know enough). That was with guardrails.
Now he's handling things badly AND making his own crises. It will get worse.

The big difference between Trump's first term and second is that he didn't burn down a strong economy with tariffs last time around. It's a lot easier for voters to overlook his bigoted nonsense and authoritarian bluster when they feel good about material conditions.

Founding Fathers fought a revolution against a king who sent his troops against them to enforce his laws. That experience was fresh in their minds when they adopted a Constitution that says that Congress alone has the power “to provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union

It was pure evil to do destroy USAID.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Very disappointed in this SciShow episode and how greatly it overstates the power of generative AIs that still struggle to be reliable and to have profitable use cases.
Real concerns like poor reliability and how bigotry from training data can't be eliminated are ignored.

Republican voters have been trained to reject the truth in favor of lies. In the last 17 years they've driven out almost all elected Republicans that won't do the same. This is the inevitable result of choosing people who can't learn from their mistakes.
Folks - let them think this. I’ve spent 25 years doing campaigns - when you think like this after a loss like last night, you are doomed to lose again.
Mike Johnson: "What happened last night is blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. And no one should read too much into last night's election results."

I've said this many times and it's with repeating. Pundits have often acted like this is not the case, but even candidates Trump endorses have often lost when he's not on the ballot. And he'll never be on the ballot again.
We have evidence now going back to 2018 that when Trump isn't on the ballot, it's grim scenes for Republicans.
And he'll never (lawfully) be on the ballot again.

My best guess is that Trump wants the Nobel Peace prize so badly so that he can argue with god that he should be allowed into heaven.
The recipient of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize will be announced by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday October 10. US president Donald Trump has repeatedly touted his suitability to become a Nobel laureate, including claiming that he has “stopped seven wars.”
