AI is so corrosive even journalism's "good guys" can't help themselves.
1/ At bargaining yesterday, @propublica.org management said that they should have 100% discretion to replace workers with AI and would not commit to labeling future AI-generated content.

Quick survey: My family aren't hardcore MAGA types. They're conservative, but generally socially conscious and accepting of new ideas.

But they've become hardliners on abortion and will never vote for any pro-choice candidate. They will vote for the worst people "to save babies."

One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

The only one of these I hadn't seen (many, many times) before a couple years ago is The Sure Thing. Based on the poster, I'd always assumed it was some B-tier teen romp and had no idea Reiner even directed it.

It's so much more than that, btw. I recommend!
Rob Reiner's first seven films: 1. Spinal Tap. 2. The Sure Thing. 3. Stand By Me. 4. THE PRINCESS BRIDE. 5. WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. 6. Misery 7. A Few Good Men. Good lord. Even Spielberg included 1941 in his first seven.

And that was after playing Michael Stivic. I hope this news isn't true. But...

OTD eleven years ago: The communal aspect of everyone listening to that album for the first time at the same time was one of the most fun events that ever happened on old-timey Twitter.

Sure, titling youtube videos is kind of a clickbaity artform, but "the hidden truth they tried to hide" is just a miss on every level.

Either "they" hid it and you're spilling the beans, making it no longer hidden, or it remains hidden and "they" were actually successful.

Huh, I've lived in Atlanta since 2011, and East Point in particular since 2014. I know the general location of the Dungeon House (OutKast, et al) is nearby, but TIL I pass by T-Boz of TLC's childhood home every time I drive to Kroger.

I've thrown Wikipedia a little donation during their fundraising drives more years than not, but I actually set up a recurring monthly donation this year just to make these assholes sadder in some small way.
Somebody send the wambulance to the Media Research Center.

This is our new CEO, Javier. I have officially adopted him. He is estimated to be 8 years old and he's deaf, so there's no need to give any feedback on his job performance. He is just a perfect gentlemen and I am so grateful he made his way to me. 14/10 no bias at all

Apparently college football playoff/bowl selection was controversial this year. What else is new?

I went back and checked. 2019 was the last season I watched. Saban left Tua in a late season game well after a win was assured. He got a gnarly leg injury. I was out.

This first time I saw this meme a few years ago, I was destroyed to learn this wasn't actual dialogue from The Wire (yes, I've never watched The Wire).

This is a bit Steve Earle would do irl, though. I'm sure of it.

The US: Bring back land barges that get 10 mpg!

Tarantino's list, huh. Surprisingly milquetoast considering all the great weirdo obscure movies he's banged the drum for over the years. But that's not my biggest concern. Taking mean-spirited potshots at working actors and directors—not as some rando, but as QUENTIN TARANTINO—is a dick move.
