All aboard the CME train? The NOAA ENLIL model shows several CMEs heading towards Earth. The first may impact around 10-15 16 UT, then 10-16 20 UT, then 10-18 0 UT coinciding with the arrival of the CIR.

This is Colton. He started a fire at his house when he chewed through a lithium ion battery. He's not the first dog to do this, and he won't be the last, but unfortunately his dad is a firefighter, so it's probably going down as one of the most embarrassing instances. We're still giving him a 12/10

A coronal hole will face Earth soon. It is a negative polarity CH, so the magnetic field may not "connect" as well with Earth as a positive polarity CH (remember the ANOP/SNAP acronyms). Still, we may see G1-G2 storming around Oct 18-19 with the arrival of the CIR.

A Great Horned Owlet in care at Tri-State Bird Rescue. With sandy blond feathers and a sandy blond towel, it's hard to tell where the owl starts and the towel ends. The rehabilitator behind holds the owl by the legs and wears a uniform bearing a white logo on a field of dark maroon. The owl's feet are bunched up like fists. Above his pale green eyes are some dark brow feathers, which are flat and neutral, giving him an almost relaxed appearance. The brow ridge may become more angular and develop into a grumpier-looking expression. Give it time.

50 million light-years away, galaxy NGC 1097 & its tiny companion NGC 1097A are locked in a galactic embrace.

The bright knots around NGC 1097’s centre are thought to be large bubbles of glowing hydrogen gas about 750–2500 light-years across.

She was thrown to the ground despite screaming “I’m not resisting”

She had to return to the hospital.

These aggressive tactics will disable. They will kill.

Observation of a gas cloud in infrared light. The gas can be seen in the whole image in different colours: some blue parts, which are hotter, beige, orange and violet. A orange/red little cloud can be spotted on the left handside of the image, in front of the giant cloud. Dozens of stars can be seen as well. A nice detail: a faint bubble-like cloud can be seen on the right handside!
