My friend read it at the same time as me and the whole thing went over her head somehow, so I guess there also have to be books that do this 😭

I agree it wasn't much new for me either though. I think what impressed me most about it was was that it read like it was an old novel. Fascinating work.
Definitely nothing about this book is particularly subtle. I can respect that though 🤣
This doesn't change how I feel about anything to be honest 😂😭
I feel so many different emotions (excitement, anger, etc.) regarding this post that I can't even write something coherent in response 😭
Reviewed another book courtesy of #NetGalley. Kind of hard to read near future speculative fiction that takes place in the United States right now, but this book was really good. I really enjoyed the calm chaos. Highly recommend.

I suppose it hasn't been too long since my last review, but life has been so hectic since August that it feels like years have passed since I was frantically...

Good luck! We all deserve to watch awesome movies at the theater if we can 🙏
Weird. That sucks so much...

I suppose the ones like musicians use would probably be good for a situation like this, but they're pretty pricey I think 🤔
Are you just watching loud movies maybe? Ear plugs or something would probably solve the issue either way but still sucks 😭
I've only had a problem with a movie being too loud when I went to see a movie in IMAX and I thought my ears were going to start bleeding.

It was Mickey 17. I didn't even need to see it that way, it was just the only time that lined up with my schedule 😅
I think I adjusted my settings at some point so that I don't even receive calls if they've already been flagged as spam by my provider. I had to up the settings because I was getting calls from internet phones in the middle of the night where men were just breathing on the other end...
It's cooled down since you were last here! I expect you'll find it quite comfortable in comparison 😆
With my current requirements, it's really not possible unfortunately. Oh well. Maybe someday. All I can do is limit where I can!
Totally, and it's even worse for phones than it is for computers. It's really hard to get away from Apple or Google since so many apps that are only supported by those operating systems are mandatory in daily life now. Very frustrating.
It gets so bad the closer we get to the end of the year...

Where I live means I'm rarely caught up in the aftermath of this kind of thing, but I feel intense sadness about it constantly. And the closer we get to the end of the year, the sadder I get about it.
Windows gives me so much anxiety and then I remember my whole phone is being spied on by Google and the despair is kind of hard to describe lol
That's certainly nicer math than what I was imagining, but still ouch... I know most of the general populace doesn't have a cochlear implant, but it seems pretty excessive for some batteries...
Wait, wait, wait. Am I understand right that these batteries only last for 5 hours before they need to be replaced and that they cost $500 per battery to replace?

Because I sincerely hope that I'm mathing incorrectly right now 😱
I understand that writing 藤 somewhat regularly must be a chore, but this is a lot...
I mean, there's also an argument that it *can* be overstated too. But this is exactly why people on projects working together need to communicate effectively and be kind to one another. Language is far from a perfectly optimized system 😂
Yeah, I think that's a bit different though than just saying something isn't natural. That's admitting it feels kind of off to you and maybe you can't really pinpoint why. And thinking about that can be useful because sometimes you realize that you agree (and sometimes you don't, which is fine).
Definitely. And while we're at it, "it's not natural" or any variations on that, isn't a reason. English has far too much (beautiful) variety for that to be even remotely useful as commentary when the reality is that team members have likely all been born and raised in different regions.
This is also so important!!! If you make the person you're proofreading or editing feel like slime, It's going to be way harder for *everyone* to do a good job.
It cannot be understated how important a good editor and proofreader are to ensuring project quality. But people in these roles who lack a strong attention to detail/can't articulate their issues, can bog a project down.

Your translators can't read minds. Be clear and articulate in your comments.
