I am grateful every day. I moved to CA at 20 and learned how to be frugal (nice word for poor.) That training has saved me well. So now I am grateful every day for my home and life.

Mine was replaced a year or so before I moved in. Apparently a huge hail storm ruined many.

I agree. I had gifted some to a friend back east. She worked for lawyers in NJ who were not supportive of our causes. She would then gift Penzey's boxes each holiday season. We both laughed every time.

I understand. I recall when my mom refused to host any more. Said sis and I were now responsible. Now that I think back, she was only in her 60s when she declared that.

Hi Karen. I agree. I used to hostess way too often. Now I am less inclined. Bet your dinner was marvelous!

Good idea. I was like that with Thanksgiving I hosted for years and years. I had it down to an art. I am a bit out of practice now. Glad I just got invited to Thanksgiving so I don't have to.

In Jersey a number of churches, mosques and temples had a rotating schedule in which each would host unhoused for a weekend at a time. My liberal Catholic church participated. Wish I could find such a church here. But a bit too regressive for me.

I love serranos so much. It is a putter kind of weekend. I have been decorating again but need to go to the gym. Yes, it never ends does it?
