Florida Wonk. Not so deep state.
I m entering my second month of almost daily vertigo which we won’t be able to fully diagnose until March because it is busy season at work and, I have to say, I do not like it.

The Florida Capitol History Museum has a display on the 2000 election including a voting booth and butterfly ballot so you can see yourself how confusing it is.

(It's a nice museum. Free and located in the old Capitol that we pretend is the current one)

As a perpetually single woman who is not very attractive and, as a result, pretty much never dates, my "favorite" thing is when a guy writes on the internet complaining about his wife spending too much money on stupid stuff like hair and nails and clothes and makeup.

You knew that going in.

People are never going to blame Republicans for what they've done and will blame Dems for not stopping it for the same reason I spent most of my childhood angry at my Mom for my father being an alcoholic.

One of the most crowded theaters I have been in this year was the local indie theater showing The Sting the weekend after Redford's death. Lots of college kids were there who hadn't ever seen a Redford movie outside the MCU but who had seen the reaction to his death and wanted to "get it".
“eventizing” is the big word these days, and where studios and exhibitors seem to think the future lies, but they are making a subtle mistake that will lead to further instability

it’s not events that you need, but the feeling of community in the experience that events give you

My normie Mom gets "hangover" IVs all the time. It is just so normalized in Florida. I don't even think this is a RFK weirdness. I would not be surprised if Mar a Lago offered them as part of the spa package.
who knows what’s going in or out of that vein or how sick he really is, but have we considered the possibility that RFK convinced trump to get into some real weird IV shit

Can't everyone sort of imagine what their dead relatives would say to them? I know my grandma would call my outfits slutty and complain that I'm still single. I don't need AI to do that.
a) you wouldn’t be, you’d be talking to an algorithm, b) no, c) faux-nostalgia is poisoning us all

Why do I have to be a smart person living in the dumbest timeline instead of a dumb person living in the smartest timeline?

I understand people annoyed that they have to take poetry so they can get a degree so they can get a basic job anywhere. That does suck, but the part of it that sucks is that workplaces require the degree instead of doing better hiring and training, not that the school makes you learn poetry.

I often read the news and realize how not normal I am because…why would you want a computer to tell you what it thinks like someone looks like naked when you can…imagine it.

The use of ‘nudify’ apps is becoming more and more prevalent, with hundreds of teachers having seen images created by pupils, often of their peers. The fallout is huge – and growing fast

I think it is interesting that these guys view "wanting to make the world a better place" as being a value in opposition to "building a life" or "stability". Sir, we live in a society.

AI returning as Jesus has really different implications than Jesus returning as AI.
AI Jesus? Rogan has jumped the shark, and that's saying something.

There's this constant discourse about how "the left" (whoever that is) has to stop being condescending and speak directly to men's issues. But these gurus are, without fail, more condescending to men than any feminist or SJW I've ever met.

Yeah, having a terrible childhood fucks you up in a lot of ways but the benefit is that I don't go around saying stupid stuff like "why isn't Christmas magical anymore?"
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.

I also dislike the culture of credentialism but the death of higher education is REAL BAD because credential have long been one way for those of us born into lower classes to access higher status careers and we aren’t replacing it with anything else.

These guys are all such pussies. "Oh no, American culture is a fragile little flower that can't sustain immigrants with their own cultures".

MEANWHILE, there's a Korean chef in town with a food truck who will sometimes make Butter Chicken Quesadillas. And that's America BABY.
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

We need to make it easier to sue people. I'm not joking. The tort system can serve as an effective market solution to shit like this (when regulators aren't doing anything) because this is clearly negligence and veering into gross negligence. Not even discussing the design defect shit.

One summer during law school I interned at the DOJ, criminal division. It's how I realized I didn't want to actually practice law in a traditional sense. Anyway, one of the cases I "helped" with (carried boxes to the coourthouse and then watched the trial) involved some Narco Terrorists.

There are few things that annoy me more than when people (like The President) use the term "Third World Country", a term which is completely meaningless since the original definition existed in terms of the Cold War and there is no suitable "new" definition.
