Brooke thought her biggest decision would be choosing a college major, until she discovered she could bend magic to her will. Thrust into a new world of mentors and secrets, she must decide whether following her power is worth the cost of losing the people she loves most.

Bruce Coville was my first introduction to the fantasy genre with Into the Land of the Unicorns. I read it in K or 1st grade and it sparked an interest in fantasy stories that would later develop into a deep love for all things magical.

Brooke hates being lied to. It's an ultimate form of betrayal for her. Unfortunately, she will have to face some lies, especially lies of omission, from the people she trusts and learn how to keep trusting them at the risk of getting in too deep and hurting the few people she cares deeply about.

Even if you don't regularly go to the library, go get a library card from your local branch! Show your local councils and committees there is an uptick in interest. Libraries take great care of their patrons who do utilize their resources. Its a small way to use your privilege!
