HAPPENING NOW — Thousands gathered in Chicago’s Grant Park for the “No Kings” rally before marching through the streets of downtown Chicago.

Chicago joins cities across the country in today’s action condemning the President Donald Trump administration.

It was rare. I was there.
The No Kings March in Chicago is one of the largest gatherings I’ve seen here. Looking down from by the river, the crowd stretches for blocks down Michigan Ave and wraps around Wacker Dr. This video is from a few minutes ago and the end of the protest is nowhere in sight.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov needs to call off the IL state police. This is not protecting citizens, this is protecting fascists.
Police escalated the situation here in Broadview incredibly quickly. Saw multiple brutal arrests. ISP jabbing protesters with their batons like battering rams.

Here ISP lifts @katmabu.bsky.social by her feet to flip her over a concrete barrier.

Cops led us into the street as the new “protest zone” and then beat us repeatedly.

Got hit in the face with a baton. Leaving to pick up my friends who were arrested.

Stay safe out there.

If anyone's wondering how this is possible, the answer is these strike teams are moving terrifyingly fast. Grab first, ask questions later. We were about 8-15 minutes behind them today for several hours. They're jumping out of vans, chasing people across lawns, taking them from bus stops, etc
30 people disappeared in this shaded area today.
I am still seeing the original gang-related allegations making the rounds on social media. Seems like DHS was either lying or really bad at indicting people. Or both.

Please remind us who the domestic terrorists are again.
Just the serial sexual predator president doing some casual sexual harassment in a cabinet meeting.
Trump ignores a question from a woman reporter but says, "I just like to watch her talk. Good job. Thank you darling."
Why does Bari Weiss have the energy of that girl who goes to theatre camp every summer for six years but never gets the lead?
This week’s main story is about Paramount’s decision to name Bari Weiss Editor-in-Chief of CBS News, the future of U.S. journalism, and why we think she shouldn’t describe her endeavors as “punk.” Bari, look at us: You are not punk. Joe Strummer would’ve hated your fancy Substack, Bari!
Yeah my neighborhood “mamas” are ready to ride at dawn!!
soooo my Chicagoans, has anyone else's neighborhood facebook group gone from desperately apolitical (regarding federal politics) to at least 40% about ICE/DHS activity and organizing against it? like it's hard to overstate this shift

New levels of hell: just got an email from our local AYSO cancelling today’s youth soccer games because ICE is at the Home Depot across from the soccer fields at James Park in Evanston.
Something about the stickers they left on the door make this bleak story even bleaker.
