My take on the producer disc horse is there will always be bad producers, as there are poor examples of any discipline, and producers and teams are not always fits for one another.
A producer is not a magic fix, and one's presence cannot magically ship a game if people are not aligned on how.

this is also SO common in game dev spaces (i mean, duh).
i go to game dev event, a man is excited to tell me all about the game idea he has, his opinions on every game he’s played, his thoughts on the industry. no interest in forming a reciprocal connection with me.

In a writer networking workshop I run, I ask attendees to think about the coolest person they want to meet.
Then I ask what they’d offer them as a peer (this could be anything!).
If there’s no answer, it isn’t time to network in that room.

I had this issue with the female romances in Hades II - the women felt like archetypes of “sassy / mean dom” with little interest in Melinoë while the male romances were both sweet and gentle and felt genuinely interested in her.
A lot of big popular romances boil down to cool and charismatic characters who seem to care very little/have very little investment in what your characteris experiencing or feeling. It rarely feels like it goes both ways, and I think that speaks to how challenging writing fulfilling romance can be.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

This reminds me: While not as nationally reported on, there are two other progressives running for mayor in major US cities. I have seen them compared as the Zohran of their races. We have Omar Fateh for Minneapolis & Katie Wilson for Seattle. If you can vote in those cities, I’d recommend them!
