Semi pro mags (and small press/independent presses) have often been the ones to take chances on me when pro magazines and big trads wouldn't. I never forget that.
Laughter Among the Trees, which was nomimated for awards was rejected by pro rate magazines. Countess went to Independent press. +
Also, not being precious about where or when you publish is not the same as not caring about your rights or community.

Only, there are more good editors than there are people who have the time and space to make a market pro.

And personally, my best editorial experiences have been semi-pro.

I’m reading too many enemies to lovers where lovers happens exclusively because they’ve been horny for each other visually the whole time and not because the other person’s personality both triggers and completes them, driving personal growth and discovery to meet one another fresh

/end rant

This is me, clasping my hands before me, and asking:

PLEASE don’t add public publisher emails to your newsletter list without consent

It’s not only unprofessional and confusing

In Canada, it’s actually also illegal

We’ll all be happier if this stops

Augur Press subs are easily hitting 70-75% science fiction.

Space opera, dystopia, war scifi, AI, near-future, climate fic, solarpunk.

The writers are writing about what they hope for and fear.
