It's the time of year to dig out my favorite winter beanie, which is covered in mini holiday lights powered by a small battery pack. It's festive, it irritates people who have to stand near me in an outdoor crowd, and I'm not bothered at all because I can't see the blinking lights.

January 2015, Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse in S. Portland during a heavy snowstorm. I couldn't get the lighthouse in focus through all the snow, so I focused on stairs in the foreground. Some of the white specs are the choppy water, but most of them are the big fluffy flakes ❄️

Scene of a lighthouse during a winter storm. Briefly, it's of a short lighthouse at the end of a breakwater. It is snowing fluffy flakes so big that they are captured in the camera. The water is choppy and gray. In the foreground there is snow covered land. At the edge of the land there is a short break wall protecting the land from the ocean. A wooden staircase, just 7 or 8 steps, with a handrail, goes from the land to the top of the wall. On the other side of the wall is a breakwater, which is a structure built in the water to protect a coastal area. This breakwater is a series of very large boulders with flat tops, 900 feet long and I'd guess 25 to 30 feet wide. At the end of the breakwater there is a short wide lighthouse. People can walk on the breakwater to access the lighthouse. The surrounding water is choppy and gray color. The lighthouse and the horizon are out of focus.
