I'm, fuck, making it through the last fucking fuck section now and can't wait to wrap it up like a skinsuit in the next day or two. I love how, so far, it's added even more mystery and uncertainty than answers.
This. I asked for a small bedside dictionary for Christmas to keep nearby—I used my phone to look up words and inevitably get distracted—and it has been a game changer.
The vibes of Wim Wender's Perfect Days were immaculate. It would make a killer double feature with Paterson by Jarmusch.
What am I doing for my birthday today, you ask? Mercilessly whooping a 4-year-old at every game we play today. It seems my hippo is indeed hungrier.
I just finished a read of the trilogy a couple months ago (just before a reread of the SR trilogy prepping for Absolution) and could not agree more. I think the true moral is simply to not sleep on Jeff Vandermeer.
I got a wonderful Christmas gift from some friends at our Tibbs Eve party last night (yes, I know, it's early). So happy to have caught this movie for the first time this year as it is now an absilute favourite. Poster designed by @patrickallaby.bsky.social for @cinesackville.bsky.social
After our government seemingly imploded two days ago, some good news is more than a little welcome.

A wheezy Indiana Jones is incredibly relatable

Watched Home Alone one time and the kid's laying traps for his mom in the kitchen while she cooks supper.
I just finished watching Carry-On, put on as a dumb, turn-off-my-tired-dad-brain movie and it was fun. It's nice to see a competently made, mid-level thriller and it accomplished what it set out to do I think.

my friend pointed out to me that the BARBARIAN poster uses the same font as Sweet Baby Ray's sauces and I cannot stop thinking about it
This will likely be the first movie my 4-year-old gets truly excited to go see in theatres. Hopefully it's better than that dreadful bore of a movie, Chunky Chimp.
My thoughts exactly anonymous Liberal MP who called Justin Ling a half hour ago. My thoughts exactly.
A Liberal MP called me a few minutes ago. First thing they say is:

“What the actual fuck.”
Welp, if Poilievre didn't have it in his grubby little bag before, he does now. I can't imagine confidence in the party will be high going into the next election even if Trudeau does decide to step aside.
Whoa. A resignation letter from Chrystia Freeland as Canada’s finance minister, delivered with blunt force.
I'm late to the party, but I just finished Past Lives. It was quiet, for sure, but built upon itself to an end that surprised me in its ability to release so much pent-up emotion with a powerful goodbye to the lives one might have had.
If you want my opinion, my honest opinion, I couldn't agree more. Not that I'm well-versed in the genre, but I caught it for the first time last night and it was delightful.
What a wonderful (and unexpectedly Christmas-set) film to see with a receptive crowd last night to close out the season!
This Friday, Dec. 13, we are screening the endlessly charming THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER, Ernst Lubitsch's 1940 classic romcom. 7pm at the Owens Art Gallery.

Can attest these covers are even more beautiful in person. I'm almost done my reread of the OG trilogy and cannot wait to crack open Absolution.
Wow! Pablo Delcan's cover design for Absolution makes the NYT's list of the best of the year! My contribution: suggesting the morphed swamp sunflowers for contrast.
Been playing too much Indiana Jones. I thought this said "Big Vatican," and wondered what the Catholics had to do with anything.
They say that, long term, people cherish experiences more than possessions. False. This is a lie perpetrated by Big Vacation. Stay the course, continue to amass cool electronics and trinkets lads.

Can we find hope beyond Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh's comment section?

Because the class consciousness that emerged in the unlikeliest of places could help us see through the bullshit on issues like Canada Post and the carbon tax.

Let's talk about it.

While everyday New Brunswickers are paying higher and higher property taxes, Irving Oil’s property tax bill fell by $25,000 last year. This is because the City of Saint John could not raise the taxes on heavy industry, without also raising them on everyone else due to a provincial gov't policy. 1/2
Finally watched the 28 Years Later trailer and fuck, the repetiveness and sound quality of that poem and seeing the harsh digital look of the first film again really got me.
