I think it’s also that Europe and the US were in the middle of an industrial population boom that china/india/Africa wouldn’t experience until later. If you measured in 1800 I bet it would be smaller again.

Yeah, makes sense to me that a local increase in new supply can cause even more local demand, which is exactly what private developers want. The government needs to make there be even more supply than PDs are comfy with + target homelessness with specific programs.

IMHO it’s necessary but not sufficient. Density and urbanism is good for a lot of other reasons but “market yimbyism” is definitely more targeted at the middle class.

My job involves technical writing, which AI is nearly useless for. The precise details of what needs to be said only exist in my brain and sufficiently describing them in a prompt is often tantamount to just writing the whole thing myself.

How about instead of pre-gloating or pre-whining in a pantomime of 2016 except for an election that won’t happen for 3 years, we make affirmative cases for the candidates we like? I intend to vote in the primary for someone who is good on Trans rights (hopefully the Great Khan of the Plains)

So...I think the left sometimes feels like saying, "I won't vote for this person in the general election" is a way to push other Ds not to support that candidate. "if you nominate this person we'll walk and you'll lose!"

That’s the clinical trial paper (and probably what triggered the article and press release). The paper I linked is about the development of the tool since that was the source I could find for the false positive and false negative rates.

I don’t know about this specific use case, but screening tools with false positive and false negative rates in this neighborhood are used all the time in medicine, both with and without AI and are widely considered to be useful.
