Nope they'll remain a viewer if the stream window is the only thing active on their monitor display. If they go away from it by opening another tab, opening another program, typing into discord etc. for 30 seconds or longer, they are instantly bumped from the viewer queue

Yep Twitch has implemented a refresh cycle that automatically pops the lurker out of viewer status about every 30 seconds EVEN IF that lurker has only one tab open. If the tab isn't active at all times (at the front, without any other program or tab running), the lurker automatically gets removed

There was no policy change. They announced that they are aware that many more viewers are not counting *as* viewers because they lurk. Twitch has stated it's like this because of their anti-viewbot actions.

99% of our lurkers no longer count toward our viewership.

⬆️ Basically, Twitch needs to see a dramatic decline in revenue. They need to hear the constant influx of viewer complaints that DRIVE the platform.

Without you? Twitch will die. Unfortunately, the creators will suffer too.

Stop buying Twitch Turbo (boycott)
Stop cheering with bits
Stop subscribing
DO tip the streamer
DO watch / lurk / listen during live streams whenever you can

Twitch viewers are asking about what they can do to help their favorite creators while Twitch siphons out lurkers from having "viewer" status.

Contact Twitch. Write to them. Put together a PETITION & gather signatures. PRESSURE Twitch to FIX this. You - the consumer - have the power.

Art of my Elden Ring OC, Grave Goddess Megaera. A leporine woman with amber eyes, long golden hair and purple fingertips dressed in purple, gold and silver.
