The animals find the body of a cop. This is bad news for *all* of them. They don't want outside attention. Snuff agrees to try to drag it to the river.
Also, we get a partial list of the important tools in The Game.

Heh. I have two ways of handling deadlines for writing.
1. Ignore them. (I'm not a professional writer. I can do that. If I miss an anthology submission deadline, oops, oh well.)
2. "Crap! It's tomorrow?!" *write* *write* *write* *read it once to fix the typos and hope I caught them all* *send*

I was reading some of the replies on your FB post. You ask for a "little terrier" and got recommended (among other things) pit bulls, a catahoula leopard dog mix (big hound), and a frickin' Belgian Malinois (Bear on "Person of Interest" was one of those).

FYI about "A Night in the Lonesome October":

The last Lonesome October was in 2020. It looks like the Closers won.

The next Lonesome October is in 2039. I'll be 73. I might decide to play. (Closer, of course.) It's somewhere in the Central or Eastern Europe time zone (but could be in Africa).

We are introduced to the Vicar who is trying to skewer the animals with crossbow bolts. Snuff and Jack give Needle sanctuary and feed him.

He walked that way, preceding me by several paces.
When I entered he was already feeding a grape to Needle.

You're safe here. You can even have a peach if you'd like."

I'm finally going to get a cat next year. I have one more very long trip to take, of uncertain duration, so I don't want to leave a cat in a kennel for 3 weeks. After that, I'm getting one.
Not sure if getting a shelter cat or a purebred. Leaning toward shelter cat but there are many considerations.
