Halloween is almost here, and the newest Moonlit March painting is nearly complete! 🎃 While I put the finishing touches on it, here’s a peek back at where the series began.

Digital painting by Victoria Maderna. A mouse pollinating a squash flower with a brush, a butternut house in the background. Painting of a little witch on a comfy chair with a black cat and a crow. She has her shoes off and there's a spellbook and wand on a table next to her. Gouache painting by Victoria Maderna: mushroom people walking on a mossy branch carrying a water droplet, pollen, backpack. One has a beetle on its head. Digital painting by Victoria Maderna, a witch riding a giant capybara and drinking yerba mate.

Hen and Wren.
Ink and gouache on Fabriano Medioevalis, approximately 95 × 64 mm.
Drawing in black ink, primarily in silhouette, of a hen and a Wren regarding each other quizzically. The hen stands in a patch of wild grasses whilst the wren perches on a small, leafless shrub in front of her. The hen's comb and wattle are the only touch of red gouache. The drawing is finely wrought and intricate. The piece is roughly the size of a business card.

This tea is "Black Cats and Pointy Hats" - it's my regular afternoon jam. It's made by @dryadtea.bsky.social:

Love it. Highly recommend.

Pairs perfectly with halloween candy and working on my Baba Yaga book (still on kickstarter and rocking along!)

My shop closes this Wednesday as I get ready for Illuxcon ~ and everything in it comes with me to that show as well.

So if you're interested in giving Francie a good home, jump now before she's gone!

Photo of a black desk with vague books and such in the background. In the foreground is a small yellow creature sculpture with green leaves growing from its head and bright teal eyes. It's holding a tarot card in a slot in its back. It's a desk buddy.

Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

In the fall of 2009 I stitched a soft-sculpture of wool, cotton, & wire. I wrote a little story about Baba Yaga in the morning feeding her Shacklings.

After 16 years it's still one of my favorite pieces.
I'm delighted to be finally, slowly, finishing this story:

Photograph of a soft sculpture done in wool felt and cotton and thread. The sculpture is of a witch with long white hair and grey clothes feeding two tiny huts on chicken feet.
