rly enjoying it being a little busier in these parts! for new comrades: my name is reed, i am a researcher who is working on answering an age old-question: IS SPIDER-MAN A COP
the lamp and the rug! just for a moment we were all in someone’s living room, together - kinda can’t think of a more beautiful collective grief moment ❤️
an impromptu D’Angelo memorial in Soho, London caught me very emotional coming off Dean St (thinking of @theferocity.bsky.social and @zachstafford.bsky.social’s discussion on Vibe Check this morning while listening ❤️)

text header and headline. This reads:
"Light Rail and Tram
Batman to build light rail line"
thank you for sharing bestie ❤️
absolutely predictable and frustrating that as soon as I started doing manual edits, I was able to crack a bunch of issues in the dissertation I couldn’t wrap my head around. once again, doing things without the computer… good
this is tomorrow 💀🤡

Also - I can't believe we let the worst comedians on the planet spend *years* defining Freedom of Speech as a moral obligation to laugh at their bad jokes, and not as a protection against government censorship. You've been crying wolf for a while now gang, and a real wolf just got here! SPEAK UP!

Yeah so throwing dildos at women athletes on the court is an actual example of gender-based violence against women in sports—one that transphobes and acquiescent Dems will surely make 1000% less noise about

It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes
Wall Street Journal headline and deck: "New York Shooting Puts Mamdani on the Spot Over Policing Views: The killing of four people in a Midtown office building rattled a city where mass attacks are rare and violent crime has declined."

*Every* single time a politician uses the phrase "Jumping the queue" with respect to migrants as James Cleverly has just done they should immediately be asked "What queue?" and the journalist should insist on the details of how people can join this queue.
“HOW TO WRITE SCENES IN A 2010s PUNK HOUSE” I fear

There is NO way of doing a meaningful conversion therapy ban in the UK in 2025. Conversion practices are fundamental to the NHS under 18s healthcare service. Criminal ban on medication + Transition denied + Search for alternative cause + Mandatory identity investigation = conversive practice.
@stonewalluk.bsky.social are actively working with transphobic Labour ministers on the latest version of a proposed Conversation Therapy Prohibition bill

When they finally let the public see what they've put together, I'm afraid we can expect to it littered with loopholes and exceptions
Stonewall's new short strategy is out. Not one specific mention of trans people. Not one specific mention of mass segregation and persecution. Not one specific mention of trans children. Not one specific mention of mass oppression and healthcare criminalisation.

Off we go into the wild pale yonder.
the brazenness astonishes me - the cognitive dissonance between the story i was indoctrinated with about the constitution and the bill of rights and what this court has chosen. i have known america to be false for at least 1/3 of my life, but this? this still has hit me like a wet fish to the face

The Supreme Court is about to go on an extended summer vacation, after having blown up the docket of every single lower court judge who has been working like a dog to deal with the firehose of illegal orders coming out of this administration.
If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

all of the Supreme Court’s jurisprudence about executive power - all of it - can be replaced with a simple flow chart. is the president a Republican? if so it’s ok. if not, it’s presumptively not ok.

Justice Jackson in dissent: "The Court's decision to permit the Executive to violate the Constitution with respect to anyone who has not yet sued is an existential threat to the rule of law."

I want to reiterate that countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

The Supreme Court's conservative supermajority just took away lower courts' single most powerful tool for reining in the Trump administration's lawless excesses, stripping them of authority to issue universal injunctions that block illegal policies nationwide. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...
