This guy is a doctor, right? Or a medical guy of some kind. That's a lab coat and a stethoscope hanging around his neck, yeah?

That's weird.

This isn't flagrant messaging but that said, we *are* a small business and a variety of our cool shirts are on sale this Saturday. Check them out and pick up something cool for the holidays!

This is a crap essay, but there was a grading rubric, and it should have been applied. I don't see how this gets anything less than 10 points, and I can see a case for giving it 25 points.

Write better rubrics.

I couldn't find my TTRPG books. I hadn't seen them in months. I looked all over. I'd written them off as lost.

Yesterday, my partner reminded me that a couple of months ago, we'd moved a particular bookshelf from one room to another. Apparently, that's all it takes for me to forget a thing exists.

Do you think they were arguing about whether or not to set their house on fire?

These are from the cemetery in St. Elmo, Illinois. There was a period of time when my kids were little where we enjoyed walking through cemeteries and gawking at the headstones.

Twice, now, in two seperate campaigns I've had an NPC scam my party. I used some variation on the Rumanian Box scam, and both times it's become a major plot hook ...

I cannot stop laughing. This is so indicative of what's wrong with these AI people and how they view art

I can't speak for what was said at the protests, but seeing people react to an anodyne statement like "sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law" as if it were a vicious slur is clarifying.
Zohran Mamdani chastised a Manhattan synagogue that hosted an event promoting migration to Israel and settlements in occupied territories. His stance further tested his strained relationship with pro-Israel Jews in New York.

Literally nothing is a holiday must. Cook and eat whatever you like.

For two or three years, my family cooked large salmon fillets as the main dish for Thanksgiving. They're reasonably priced, easily scalable, quick and easy, and they're a crowd pleaser.

No you didn't, some of us never fucked with the Beatles. So many people tried to get me into the Beatles and, while they have some songs I like/appreciate, I have never in my life said, "Hmm, I want to listen to the Beatles."
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

People like different stuff; there are 100 different ways to be an insufferable music snob.

One of them is telling people what their tastes ought to be.

I'm in a slump.

Not even a month ago - maybe just a couple weeks ago - I had boundless energy and ambition. I could plan things and execute my plans. I made reasonably good use of my time, managed my priorities, and got things done.

Now I just want to lie on the couch. I hope this passes soon.

I made a cranberry coffecake this morning. It called for cranberry sauce, but I only had fresh cranberries so first I had to make a cranberry sauce.

They're both excellent.

??!

Literate 20 year old English speakers should be able to engage with *any* English text. They should be able to read the King James Bible or Shakespeare or Chaucer.

Being able to engage with texts is the measure of English literacy. I will 100% die on this hill.
... Boy, Dickens is the worst example to pick here.

"Dickens's world is too far removed from modern experience."

What, you mean the world of enormous wealth disparity, the industrialization of human life begetting generational suffering, the young forced to scavenge on the fringes of society...

If this were true, the "board" in "game board" would refer to a table as well.
The "board" in board games is the table. They are games played on a table.

This is also where "room and board" comes from, you get a room and a seat at the table (for food).

And also "above board". A deal that is above board was made above the table, rather than a sneaky deal below the table.

I've solved the "scheduling a session" problem.

1) be prepared to play ~ once a month or so per table

2) use a service like when2meet to let everybody mark their availability at once

... and that's it. I have 2 campaigns on-going and run pickup games when my tables don't come together.
