This is a wonderful description of how to address students' use of AI in a caring, productive, and open way.
“Like many teachers, I sometimes notice my unease growing as I read a piece of student work. Word by word my suspicion builds, and then all at once I understand. This is an AI–generated text and not something my student actually wrote. Now what do I do?”

This is a very good book. I stumbled onto James McBride's "Heaven and Earth Grocery Store" and fell in love with his writing and the amazing narration by Dominic Hoffman.

Please do not register for protests. I'm big mad that this is even being asked of people. You know where and when to be. Show up.

This is like watching Sen. Cory Booker's brain right before he falls asleep when your brain spins and revisits all the conversations you had that day and all the things you wish you had said. It's brilliant to watch and hear how brilliant that brain is.

The people saying "send it back to the states" must be the same folks saying that they can't access curriculum or have any transparency or say in curriculum in their child's school (hint: check your kid's HW, the district website, join the curriculum committee, attend board meetings....)
*Yells for the 1 millionth time*

The states already control K12 education. The federal government finacially supports all states with additional funding and support for all students because the states alone don't have enough money to function.

Hope that helps.

My kids use ILL on a regular basis to borrow titles that our town's library doesn't have. This is a service that our LOCAL library leverages and provides and is now at the whim of a FEDERAL budget cut. These "cost saving measures" have far-reaching impacts people can't always see.
