Today, we honor the life and legacy of a remarkable woman, my mentor and dear friend, the late Mrs. Mamie Till-Mobley, who would have been celebrating her 103rd birthday. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit continues to inspire and guide all who knew her.

Today, I sat in court with many others to support the family of Jimmy Atchison as they seek justice for his ʍʊʀɖɛʀ. Jimmy was unarmed, hiding in a closet, and the now-retired Atlanta police officer Sung Kim took his life. He was only 21 years old.

Lots of people are about to be really mad that price of eggs goes up but they can’t get a 2nd job because they can’t afford childcare and when they do finally get the eggs they get E Coli because there’s no FDA but can’t go to the doctor because they got kicked off their health plan. #FAFO

Calling abuse a lesson or a gift - something that made us stronger - dismisses the harm and pretends the damage was necessary for our growth. It wasn’t. Survivors don’t thrive because of the violence. We thrive despite it. And we owe them nothing.

The past year and a half, I’ve been diving deep into the life and legacy of Emmett Till. His murder, the horrifying injustice of his killers walking free, and the political and racist systems that allowed it—all of it has been both enraging and eye-opening.

When someone says something racist and disgusting, you have every right to cut them the f*ck out of your life. You don’t owe anyone your peace, your energy, or a second chance. Boundaries are about protecting yourself from people who openly disregard your humanity.
