as so often, the explanation is probably 'animals feel emotions that are similar to ours, and when we disregard the evidence to avoid 'anthromorphism' it's fundamentally ideological, not scientific'

I think @brendannyhan.bsky.social is exactly right in this piece, but I’d go one step further here. Elites very explicitly told young people to sit down and shut up. Society punished them for standing up for their beliefs, and targeted and vilified the organizers. Now we need need them.

aerons are one million percent worth having, it's an incredible chair and your back will thank you

also you should never pay retail or close to it (unless your work is buying it for you), there are always a million used ones floating around because of office churn
it's some kind of journalistic malpractice to tell people an areon going for 30% off of $1600 is a meaningful "discount". you're supposed to get one from a shady facebook marketplace guy for $150 at most
Early Black Friday discounts—and a flash sale—help bring down the price of the iconic Herman Miller Aeron. www.wired.com/story/black-...

if there's a reason to keep up the "tribunals for all involved" discourse one such reason it is to put in stark relief how far away some of the Dem politicking is from the mood on the ground
eric swalwell said on msnow that a major goal of a dem majority after the midterms would be for ice masks to come off and badges to come out, this is insufficient

alas, there's a lot of sanewashing in this piece - even as it expresses frustration in RFK, it treats him as a legitimate, good faith actor in a way that's just not true.
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

The article is worse than the headline suggests. I am trying to avoid American politics online but as the brother of someone like this, this story really upset me. The idea of him being separated from his mother for 54 days, seeing her only 3 times, facing emergency surgery alone, is heartbreaking
Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

He went in and he didn't lib out or suck up, he talked only about material shit and they found common materialist ground on reducing crime, building housing and LOWER RENT.

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT
