Power fantasy characters are so much better as side versus main characters for story reasons. It let's your main character be flawed and tackle their trauma while still having the bad ass on hand. And they work so much better as friends than as an additional source of angst.

Honestly, sexuality kind of breaks down when you don't assign yourself a gender so describing it as a conscious decision may be over selling it.

The words bi, straight, pan, gay, etc all apply an assumption about gender of the person it's applied to in a way I just don't connect with for myself.

My greatest realization about my self was throwing every label into the garbage and just saying "I'm just me. Don't overthink it."

I do use trans, but only in the loosest "I'm not cis, but something else" way.

I could never control how others think about me anyways, I was always the weird one lol

Bright Noa may be the most and least interesting character in all of Gundam. The most centrist, status quo of a dude who also occasionally just goes "But what if we put children in giant robots? Will that fix the problem?" The answer is always no, but he keeps trying.

And people keep letting him.

People who think the idea of "give me ideas" is something genuinely creative people want have literally never experienced the absolute EUPHORIA of a brainstorming breakthrough, either solo or with a human collaborator. They don't understand what is happening when artists create, on a basic level.
