State and local governments are taking aim at high housing costs with preapproved building plans for homes.

And then the business sector bolting in ‘24. Should have just done price controls!

Very annoyed at this.
Congress knows how to use the power of the purse to get what it wants, but refuses to do it to, like, make sure that grants get to Head Start.
Just a total warping of priorities, using the power only in these narrow contexts and never to help poor people
Congress to withhold Pentagon travel funds until it sees boat strike videos
Lawmakers quietly stuck the requirement into their must-pass annual defense policy bill.

This so so true.
When Reagan launched his campaign in Philadelphia Mississippi taking about states rights he was in a real sense giving us a history lesson.
And he won!
And here we are.
In his 1989 farewell address, Ronald Reagan focused on civic memory—on America’s tendency to forget its own story. More than three decades later, that warning feels less like a rhetorical flourish and more like an unheeded alarm.
The Danger of Patriotism Detached From American Ideals
And how Ronald Reagan’s notion of ‘informed patriotism’ offers a path out of our political dysfunction.

Oh my god yall look at the Illinois map I’m dying
Democrats can retaliate against these GOP gerrymanders with new maps in Illinois, Maryland, Oregon, & Virginia.

They could flip 7 GOP seats to make up for this & new GOP maps in Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, & possibly soon Indiana.

Imposing costs is the only way to deter the GOP from doing this

There are 1000 billionaires in the country about 1/4 in CA.

This is a preposterously stupid thing to say
except that what he means is that the big dem tent wants their money

and so what he’s saying there is that their money weighs more than the majority of the coalition that wants to tax them
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.
