Abso-fucking-lutely.

I fell in love with skinnies when I saw the Fonz wearing them in Happy Days in 1975 and have worn them ever since.

There's a new EU Entry/Exit system: www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-...

➡️ If you are travelling by train from London St Pancras Intl, use the self-service kiosks before going through the ticket gates
➡️ At Folkestone (Eurotunnel) there's a purpose-built pre-reg area with self-service kiosks before embarking

This is what one of the biggest Diwali celebrations outside of India looks like.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate light overcoming darkness, hope overcoming hardship, and unity in our diversity.
A person stands on stage addressing a large crowd gathered in Trafalgar Square for Diwali on the Square. Colourful tents and festival stalls fill the area behind the crowd, with the National Gallery visible in the background.

One of the joys of retiring has been deleting many of my shortcuts, apps and passwords.

The routes into my head were oppressively numerous.

I counted up the number of ways (platforms, accounts, apps) that people in my professional and personal lives plus healthcare systems and kid’s school are contacting me and uhh. This is objectively impossible.

Julius Caesar conquered Gaul in 51 BC and died in 44 BC, therefore all of Asterix's adventures took place over the course of less than seven years, probably much less since Asterix's chieftain was at the battle of Alesia, were it is probable Asterix and Obelix's fathers died. In this essay, I will

Papa Smurf wears a Phrygian cap, most often associated with the French Revolution, indicating Smurf Village had a monarchy it has since overthrown. This makes Papa Smurf, de facto head of state post-revolution, akin to Robespierre. In this essay I will —
An image of Papa Smurf, a small blue man with a white beard. He’s wearing red trousers that lead into shoes and a red cap that slouches forward.

Always remember ...
Brexit was simply the first salvo in a Putin-backed attack upon the West. The same battle is now being fought throughout Europe. If the UK turns its back on Brexit and rejoins the EU, it will be seen as a victory for the whole of Europe against the rise of fascism. Pick a side.

I hadn’t put this together with Edward I’s expulsion of the Jews from England in 1290 until just now.

Edward needed money; parliament wouldn’t grant it unless he agreed to expel England’s Jewish population.

Philip needed money, so he demonised and robbed the Templars.

718 years ago, on the 13th of October 1307, King Philip IV of France had hundreds of Knights Templar arrested on charges of heresy, to which most later confessed under torture. This event is one of the possible origins for the Friday the 13th superstition. #otd #history 🗃️

Can I also say that driving at 20mph allows you to notice the world around you? It makes journeys more interesting.

Remember, whenever you hear that “speed wasn’t a factor” in a deadly crash, what they mean is that the car involved wasn’t technically speeding. At least “not by much.” It presumes that the speed limit wasn’t too high to begin with.

When it comes to death from collisions, SPEED IS ALWAYS a factor.

And in the news this morning, I’m back in with the Year 6 pupils today so I looked back at my notes to see what they like reading.

And how can I not have read Tom Gates? I’m a diary writer - and want to make my daily journal a bit more like Liz Pichon’s books.
