Beloved: I don't understand how we're going to clean this without putting it in the dishwasher
Myself: With very hot water and dish soap.
Beloved: LIKE CAVE PEOPLE.
I guess I'm glad I hadn't sent my passport in for renewal?
Also, explain why, in my mind, the word "sixty" feels decrepit, but "eighty" feels young? Like, sixty is Ebenezer before the three ghosts and eighty is Ebenezer after.
Just experienced a very visceral "in ten years I'll be sixty" moment.
One of the reasons I used to like staying over at my grandma's is that she had Scope in her bathroom; my mother bought ACT, and ACT was vile.
Lasagna with bread and butter for supper tonight and when I say "bread" I mean a proper soft white loaf from the bread aisle.

Science fiction and fantasy writers owe a lot to the author Ursula K. Le Guin, who, as it turns out, was also a visual artist. Map-making helped her find her way in her invented worlds. Today, an exhibition of these works begins to unlock her secrets.
Take a Trip Through Ursula K. Le Guin’s Conjured Worlds
The fantasy and science fiction writer found her way into her invented worlds by making maps and then mentally exploring them.

My fellow Americans, today is a good day to update your vaccines and donate money to local food banks. Schedule a blood donation, if you can, too.
Let a little too much news into my reality this evening.
Ohhh, need to get my hands on some Penta Creme!
Imagining amber waves of grain blowing in the wind
purple mountains and no homeless in America

Sometimes I still put my hand tenderly on my heart
somehow or other still carried away by America

Alicia Ostriker. "Ghazal: America the Beautiful."
Only later learning the Banner and the Beautiful
live on opposite sides of the street in America

Only later discovering the Nation is divisible
by money by power by color by gender by sex America

We comprehend it now this land is two lands
one triumphant bully one still hopeful America
I said One Nation Invisible until corrected
maybe I was right about America

School days school days dear old Golden Rule Days
when we learned how to behave in America

What to wear, how to smoke, how to despise our parents
who didn’t understand us or America
Do you remember our earnestness our sincerity
in first grade when we learned to sing America

The Beautiful along with the Star-Spangled Banner
and say the Pledge of Allegiance to America

We put our hands over our first grade hearts
we felt proud to be citizens of America

This has been around for a while, so clearly someone is buying it. (Possibly the government, as a tool of torture).
AGAIN.
One of the cats has brought a live mouse into the house and ... this story is not going to end well for anyone.
Without the doors, the monsters naturally migrate to another's closet as they can't properly lurk and leer when there's nothing to hide behind.
Multicooker working its magic: chicken stew with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, onion, garlic, lots of herbs and seasoning, and an ancient bag of frozen mixed vegetables, because I will get to the bottom of this freezer before Thanksgiving.

It's delicious little edible gourds season, motherfuckers.
The grocery's seasonal aisle is a maddening fusion of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas items. Absolutely none of it is anything I want, but I went down the aisle, anyway.
That sounds like a wonderful way to start the day.

Without you I am unmoored.
