A collection of moths trying to cosplay a human interdisciplinary artist. MedSci escapee, always drawing or making paint. In my chaos-bisexual-enby-hag era. Moths, paint-making, disability, & art-related sh*t-posting. lycomorpha.etsy.com

Bemused at all the people suddenly following me, so uhh.

Hi? Here's some things to know.

I swear a lot. If you're offended by words like wankspangled knobcockle, I'm not for you.

I post many moths & other bugs. I talk/yell about alt text, chronic life, pencils, & paint. I post paint-making a lot…
My optician cranked all my specs up a notch recently.

Still getting used to where to put my face relative to phones etc.

I feel like this combined with a phone that likes aggressively switching language mid-sentence… it's gonna end in me accidentally texting profanity to some in-law or something.

You know a good giveaway that 'using whistles is disabilist' is not rooted in good faith or community care? I have seen no serious discussion about how to include Deaf/HoH folks in rapid notification. How are we quickly notifying targeted Deaf/HoH folks who can't hear whistles/shouts?
Don't think I don't notice that you are NOWHERE when disabled people are asking for your help and you just like to trot us out when it is convenient.

Refocus. It’s still survival for Nya & her family of eight, who remain displaced in a tent. Inattention means families go without, and it’s what the occupation wants from us.

Help them survive with winter supplies & more. Give/find their link here.

I started outlining this tonight, rolling over the graphite with a putty eraser to lighten it & going over the outline with colour pencil.

But 1st I spent chuffing ages trying to find the kinda compass's you can put a pencil in. I've 6 that have the little tiny leads. 🙃

Paris Green was a pigment created in 1814 and was used by many artists at the time. It was also VERY dangerous because of it was full of arsenic! Here's a self portrait, painted by Vincent Van Gogh in 1888. He used Paris Green in the background.

Fist bump to anyone else caught between the need to bow down & accept the dire, broken reality of the attention economy to continue surviving via their creativity & a desire to disconnect which becomes more vast, and more potentially vital to their sense of inner peace, with every year that passes.

On the bright side, we’ve now discovered a more terrifying ALF on bsky than the one of @faineg.bsky.social’s making

Small joys in a fkd up world:

It's Sunday and I made fancy milk porridge, with raisins, ginger, cardamom and cinnamon.

(I know. What a wild-party-merry-go-round existence I have, eh? 😂)

Well worth reading this piece.

I hadn't realised that #SexMatters had been so explicit in their intentions re trans children, specifically. This is the horror they are knowingly visiting on kids. And they dgaf if the kids kill themselves. Which a lot of them are (see @goodlawproject.org's posts).

another week of ✨ Shameless Self Promotion Saturday ✨ where thinking about the ethics of trying to make a living in this moment in history makes us feel like turning our skin inside out

hi new people. hi old people. hi creatures who dont identify as people.

we love you.

please buy art. or dont.
a lot of new eyes this week.

hi, we're mox. we devote one day a week to trying to pay our bills. today is unfortunately that day.

if you are new, we do things differently than most. it's the only way that doesn't feel gross.

thank you. stay safe.

I'm not saying I've had a ridiculous amount of paintmaking on the go lately but uhh... Yeah.

I store paint in syringes between filling pans in layers, and turn them upside down every day to stop pigment settling out at one end.

That washing up pile of finished syringes tho, OMFGs. 😬

Kitty went to a cookware shop. I decided not to go with them.

I regret my choices.

Now there's a bunch of things in our kitchen that there is definitely not room for, they're just cackling at the shiny new things, & pls send halp.

It's Friday. The world may be a shit-show full of picklefuckers, but please remember to take your meds. Even it's only cos fascists hate the fact than chronically ill & disabled people get to exist.

Spite fascists: look after your spoonie self, even one tiny bit. 😘

Wasn't that also Boris bastardtittyfucking Johnson's original plan?

Cos that worked out so friggin well, dint it... 🤨
The NIH Director (Bhattacharya) and Deputy Director (Memoli) recently published their “plan” for US pandemic preparedness—it was essentially to do nothing other than to persuade American individuals to get healthier, so that the healthy would survive the next pandemic. Survival of the fittest.

getting away from reference photos helps me focus on the possibilities of the medium, and this piece was a test of using 100% cotton paper, which will keep wet areas wet for much much longer than cellulose or other substrates. that's how i could get gouache to blend the way it does in the clouds.
