Supremely baffled at these arguments for adding a data center in an agriculturally zoned area. "Attract tech jobs"? You mean spike housing prices in an area so poorly planned for development... Everybody says "data centers are coming, get our piece of the pie". What if there is NO PIE?!

Really? Up north of me in Chicago they have a lot of polo and tactical pants outfits paired with sunglasses and masks. Still ironic to me how mask friendly this group is but I am sure there were more than few throwing a fit about wearing one during height of COVID

Here too. Relative planted wintet wheat then late beans into wheat stubble. You can see where the deer have grazed the tops off the younger beans in the back field. So dry still even after a day of steady light rain.

Perception/hypocrisy, cause the game board is set up to divest small farmers of their acerage and consolidate power in corporatized agricultural businesses. The only ones in a position to win from this continued situation are already sitting in the catbird seat.

What is insane to me is how silent the supposed "Voice of the American Farmer" has been. Farm Bureau, for such a conservative leaning org, sure is embracing the idea of bailouts for farmers. How about preventing the need for bailout first?!

I was thinking that this may be one of the last years I hunt that 60 acres. My grandfather purchased it after sending his pay packet home during WWII to help his family (who had always been hired hands/rented a farm) to purchase theirs. My immediate family will never own ground, nor will I it seems.

Literally expecting this to happen to a relative. He just purchased a home w/11 acres and grain dryers and he is still paying the mortgage on 60 acres purchased from our grandmother's estate. Afraid he is over leveraged. Also when asked about soy prices he says "Trump'll take care of us." 🤦‍♀️
