Hi! 👋
If I had to pick four Christmas Movies…

So, after an overwhelming and positive response to this post I’ve gotten it in gear and made a post on my website with links to my eligible pieces.

The SFF community is the best 💕💫
Awards nominations are starting and I have things that are eligible but no pretty post (yet) cause I’m kind of overwhelmed and the imposter syndrome is impostering despite the fact that these pieces were literally already chosen for publication and wow aren’t brains the best!?

If you are reading for nomination season, may I suggest a story and a poem that are pretty 🤩 if I do say so myself

And if you are a Hugo voter, I’ve got a Fancast eligible podcast.

Watched Die Hard for the first time (I Know) yesterday and now I’m on Team it IS a Christmas Movie.

Surprised to find out my Christmas-loving husband is appalled at this opinion.

Thanksgiving prep is done! Cabbage salad, fruit salad, cranberry pie and turkey dry brine all done and kitchen ready for tomorrow.

Ran out of regular sugar, but otherwise all good!

I’m not a visual artist but I took a break with the kiddos today and said we were doing art to add to the little free gallery we found yesterday.

And you know, even though I was using mostly dried paints I had fun and even like the piece I created.

Thanksgiving shopping is put away and now it’s time to settle down with a mug of tea and Noah Kahan music before the food Olympics start.

Tried a “Shut up and Write” group for the second time today and my goodness if it isn’t just the perfect level of social pressure to get something done that lights up my brain.

Delightful conversation before and after and 1100+ words down for my novel.

New writers: DO NOT give away your subsidiary tv/film/merch/derivative rights for a $300 short.

Not even for legacy mag cred.

Showers are magical places for shaking the ideas out of your subconscious and I won’t be convinced otherwise…

Off to capture tonight’s thoughts before they slip down the drain

“Do it for all of us, or don’t do it at all. I won’t sign a contract which would indicate to the field this is an acceptable way of doing business, not even for the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.”

Thank you for your advocacy, even if it didn’t achieve your goal. Solidarity is the way.
Did you read my post from last week about how contract woes caused me to withdraw an accepted story from F&SF, ending my 54-year quest to be published in that magazine? But wait (as the saying goes) — there's more! Scroll down at the link for an update. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...
