I have such a consistent frustration with “move fast break things” creeping out of software into physical engineering. Just a pack of nerds awash in VC funding externalizing costs over and over again from their VC money-paid for homes
A US tech bro corp in the US has decided the night sky should go away. They've made that decision for everyone on Earth.

Naturally they've named the first searing orbital array (many times brighter than the moon) after Eärendil, the light bearer, from Tolkien's work

Company's plan to launch 4,000 space mirrors alarms scientists
Reflect Orbital says their light-on-demand idea has generated significant interest from commercial and government customers.

True. I just hate the chestiness

Coming back to this bc I think my ex-evangelical lens is important. This “redemption” = continuation/enhancement of power & privilege is exactly how patriarchal, white Christian nationalists operate. It enables and perpetuates abuse. That’s why it is so vital that the Left NOT fall for that logic.
"Oh so there's no path to redemption?" Sure there is. Most paths to redemption don't run through the U.S. Senate, though. Go, live a good life. Farm oysters. Diminish and go into the East and be an always improving Graham Platner. Do not be a Senator. And remove that fucking tat.

This did so much damage to the exact sort of message we desperately need right now and candidates who can convey it who do NOT have a Nazi death's head tattoo on their chest. God Fucking Damn it.

I really liked what he was saying. But if there's any way to recover from "hey man you have a fucking SS Nazi tattoo on your tiddy and thought it was OK to have one," he did not find that path, and it's not puritanical or exclusionary to say so, and its ridiculous to even have to explain this.
A rally is not a protest but it is not worthless.

I always felt (a feeling is not a fact) that 50501 and the NK folks were not listening to Black people or other marginalized folks in this country enough.

I think there is a value in what was done this weekend lMany people taking important steps.

Here’s what I said to our teenager and some other young folks who were around at the match: there’s a difference between a demonstration and a protest, and you need both because people are at different places in their engagement with a movement, and there are different kinds of power.
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.

Wake up, babe, the least subtle visual metaphor in history just dropped

It also can't be separated from two other realities: the conciergification of US society [get my order to me perfectly and fast] and the mistrust and aversion of *organization* [people desire a container for working with others & also few want to do the work to build them]
Thank you for this. And yes. Techbros looking to make their fortune really did not help
All This. <waves hands>

The way through is intention practice community and collective working for the benefit of all - including the planet.

This averages out at a violation roughly every four hours, around the clock, continuously since 10 October. At what point do we stop calling it a ceasefire when Israel has just literally not ceased firing
I’m still thinking about Cori Bush leading a crowd of mostly white people of many ages in an Assata Shakur chant.

Still get tears of hope from it.

Rallies like this bring together multigenerational groups and the playfulness can help create enthusasim for big tent politics against the monoculture of fascism.
He still has a stupid face.
I just do not like his face.
I love the “you try me!” woman in the orange coat refusing to be intimidated by the ICE goons.
If you need notes stick them on the screen right under the camera. Literal sticky notes all over your screen. Do not read off another monitor.

I'm so sorry it is so hard out there, folks but do not do a self-own by reading answers a tool writes for you.

This would be a big self own.
If you are looking for a job and are having a video interview please do not have an AI tool recording the interview and feeding you answer prompts on another screen. I beg.

I beg so hard.

Please make eye contact with your camera so your interviewers can see you are not reading anything else.
Please can his face not accompany stories about this company?

I feel bad things when I see it.

Kinda seems like whether or not the president has the power to assassinate people with no due process, no input from Congress, no review, no oversight, and with no obligation to provide anyone with any information or evidence other than “trust me” is an important test of our democracy.
