I think one challenge is that people may equate psychological states with chosen states. That is the even deeper issue, that many hold the belief that happiness and wellbeing are always 100% chosen. Even healing that we can choose takes time... and recurring stressors make that doubly hard.
I agree 100% that we have self healing power, and I've spent decades trying to tap into that. I've noticed that psychological stress worsens my symptoms. But someone I just met implying that I'm sick on purpose is just... exhausting. I like this person. They meant well, but it put me on the defense.

Human love is not generated as an outcome of unrelated underlying processes.

Love is the underlying process. The human expression is what is generated.

All beings are motivated by their own expressions of love.

Look around. It's all love loving love.
Wow, that's insane. The next time someone asks me this question, I'm going to reply with a question of my own: Does a part of you wish that I was faking it or somehow manifesting it so you can feel better about the way the world works?
Good grief 😔 That makes it even more clear that they're only asking to make themselves feel better. That’s like salt in the wound. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Empathy device, LOL! I'd use it on doctors first. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie has an empathy device. Comedy gold.
Toxic positivity is the worst. I'm so sorry.
In this instance, it was a friend asking me this... in the hopes of helping me recover. I understood where it was coming from. Wasn't upset at first. But it did hurt.
So they took before photos? Good grief. That is another level of lame.
I'm waiting for a news story about ICE agents doing this to another ICE agent. Is the safest uniform this man could wear now the "uniform" of ICE?
I'm like 90% certain he made up the details of that conversation.
History trivia question:

In what era did people give gold bars to kings or their royal servants to gain favors or clemency?

A. Ancient/Classical era (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome)

B. The Middle Ages

C. The Renaissance

D. .... sigh 🤦‍♀️
If you know someone with an invisible disability or chronic illness like ME/CFS, please, for the love of god, do not ask them, "Does a part of you WANT to be sick?"

No. Not one single speck.

Would you ask that of someone who's paralyzed or blind or dying from cancer?

#chronicillness #disability
Only Trump could use the destruction of the White House to destract from something worse.

Wait... are the Epstein Files in the East Wing?
It's weird to enter the ruins phase of our civilization while we're still living in it.
The thing I find most depressing about 2025 is not that fascism is rising... It's that there are so many men willing to raid their neighbor's homes or ziptie children or slam pregnant women to the ground to make fascism possible. That's not angry disenfranchisement. It's just sadism.

But surviving while stuck takes an insane level of perseverance, bravery, and skill. It's a feat in itself. If you're stuck and surviving, you're not losing. You're doing what you have to do to keep going. Respect!
🧵 We glorify the act of leaving an abusive situation and making a new life. That's the respectable outcome. Even when people understand how a woman can be stuck in a cycle of violence, there's still an underlying sense of dismay or disapproval. Like it's a shame or embarrassment to be stuck. 1/2
If you left a relationship with a narcissist, just remember that all the love you felt in that relationship was the love you brought with you. And that love is still yours.
For the 100th time: I thought this was The Onion. 😖
My heart can't break enough for the level of grief and horror.
Maybe they think potatoes are made of Lay's.
"...mashed Lay's, Lay's casserole, loaded baked Lay's, Lay's salad, boiled Lay's..." (trails off, end scene)
If there's barely a country left, is it really a ceasefire, or are they just done?
