To think some seriously believe this will appease the far right rather than embolden them to demand more

Even if it did, it would have been at the cost of implementing its politics, mainstreaming its discourse and emboldening racists

Congratulations to everyone who fuelled the immigration panic

Stealing refugees' jewellery won't make anyone's life better.
Deporting children won't make anyone's life better.
Making people wait 20 years to settle won't make anyone's life better.

If Government chooses hostility over helping communities, more division and racism are the only possible results.

The i Paper is reporting that once the changes are brought in, the 20 year route will be applied to refugees who are already here.

I can't over emphasise the level of terror this will cause to our refugee population, and the lack of detail and timescale will make it very difficult to calm nerves.

The decision was still being made for most of the hearing, and when it was served Home Office counsel initially argued the claimant could fight it from France

They then received an email mid-hearing saying that reconsideration requests actually can't be made from abroad according to official policy
