The claims of a "fall" that bother to give a comparator are mostly comparing to Gallup polling from a few years ago finding support at around 70%.
The problem is... Gallup haven't found a similar drop! The most recent Gallup poll this year found support at 68% - statistical noise change from 70%.

I think a lot of what leads to the "god bluesky is SO MEAN i'm going back to Muskland!" dynamic we see here is that, on Twitter, engagement is driven entirely by a politically motivated and largely broken algorithm that keeps a lot of bad faith ideas safe. That is not so on Bluesky.
Bluesky doesn’t have a central algorithm that’s forced on everybody, and allows users to create their own feeds.
I think that is the *only* ethical model for social media going forward:

I say this not to defend dogpiles, but to note that the belief that Bluesky is somehow "meaner" than X is based on the faulty assumption that the groups on X who share the same views as similar Bluesky groups are even seeing your posts -- they probably are not!

Coming from Twitter, where the algorithm protects and promotes certain viewpoints, to Bluesky, where *culture* is more of a driver than platform, can indeed be a shock. It becomes clear, really quickly, that you're getting yelled at by people, actual people, and a lot of them.
