Context: we recently moved to the inner city (near U of W) with a kiddo and are car free. We are a 15m walk from everything we need: schools, libraries, groceries, restaurants, friends, work, etc. This runs counter to "common knowledge" in Wpg that you need a car to survive here.

Yeah, I was wondering this too! The way the cities are drawn up on paper are very incomparable. Winnipeg "core" is like... 200k or so, iirc?
I'd gander that, yeah, those using the cars they do own is much higher here than in Van., would be interesting to see those stats

Of course our transit infrastructure is pretty dismal compared to similar, less car free, cities (eg Edmonton), which massively impacts the feel and day-to-day of being car free here

Really interest statistic about Winnipeg. Surprising that we're more car free than Vancouver, but also in line with the general underestimation of my city and what life is/can be like here.
The metro area with the most car-free households in 🇨🇦 is Montreal (18%), followed by Toronto (16%) and Winnipeg (14%).
Quebec City has more car-free than Vancouver!
Calgary and Edmonton have the least car-free households, but still get very respectable LRT ridership by North American standards.

I thought the money from me alone would've been plenty to keep Native Instruments around 3 more years at least.
My Fantasy: Fabfilter buys them & then makes their own DAW that's a licensed skin of REAPER but it's Fabfilter beautiful & it has Izotope RX built into every audio region. & world peace.
