“Swear her in! Swear her in!”

AZ AG Mayes: If I have to, I’ll take Speaker Johnson to court. There's no legitimate reason for him to refuse to swear her in right now. And it's not fair for Mike Johnson to be holding the state of Arizona hostage because he doesn't want to release the Epstein files.

As a minimum the large corporates should be made to drop incentives on vets to undertake treatments. Its cruel to put animals under unnecessary treatment and unfair to individual vets who need to be totally free to act in the way they think best for the welfare of the animal.
lhur.bsky.social
The issue is these new large corporate groups owned only 10% of vets in 2010 and now own 60%. They are extracting vast profits by ripping people off. They would have no need to pass anything on if they behaved like traditional independent vets.

I regularly spend time in France. Vet treatment, especially fees are a third of the UK. In UK we had to request a regular prescription drug a week early. They charged us £60 for the admin. That's more expensive than getting an EU pet passport.

This report feels quite toothless and underwhelming. The takeover in only a little over a decade of most Vet practices by these large groups has caused massive price rises. Can't think of any comparable sector that has seen such enormous rises in consumer bills (63% higher than in 2016).

Check online at a reputable site selling animal medicines how much cost. These big US-owned/private equity-run groups are ripping people off.
One example: we were recently charged £110 for a medication. Looked it up and it was available online for £37.

Chris Christie: “Thie is no longer, the Department of Justice, is no longer the premier prosecuting office in America. What it is now is a capo regime who goes out and executes hits when directed by the Don to do so. That’s what it is.”

I’m glad we can now talk about Brexit damage, says Wes Streeting

Obama: "When you see an administration suggest that ordinary street crime is an insurrection or a terrorist act, that is a genuine effort to weaken how we have understood democracy."

Also a shame the rightwing press always reports stopping people driving at speed as a negative.

The message from Trump's DOJ to every prosecutor in America is clear: Investigate me or my allies, and we will use the full power of the federal government to destroy you.

It's wild that we've reached a point where the President openly admits to firing people for political reasons, and his OMB director tweets about it like it's a victory. This is page one of the authoritarian playbook, happening in plain sight.

It's almost exactly four years since Tim Shipman's notorious "Boris Johnson squats like a giant toad" tweet.

Seems like important context given how we often talk as though the next election – four years away – is a done deal.

I find it weird how people can acknowledge that UK politics is volatile to an unprecedented degree and yet talk very confidently about the shape of an election in 2029. Reform is depicted as a permanent and unstoppable force and Labour as utterly doomed. Doesn't add up to me

I don't think people have grasped the dystopian potential for AI search (giviny the one 'correct' answer to any question) to be corrupted by far right content. It has the potential to completely destroy progressive politics.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Absolute disgrace they have liquidated the company. Michelle Mone and her husband are now rich beyond imagination thanks to taxpayer's money and a corrupt process set up by the Johnson government.
